Report by Agri SA’s executive director
[{“type”:”text”,”content”:”The road Agri SA traversed during the past year, was as eventful and challenging as the previous one. The Covid-19 pandemic is still with us and many countries, including South Africa, are still battling to overcome the economic, social and political challenges it brought along. nnThe agricultural sector has, however, played a critical role in ensuring food security for most of our people. Yes, many households have been hard hit and many are going hungry, but our farmers heeded the clarion call. That was to continue producing quality, affordable and safe food and to make surplus food available to hunger-stricken communities.nnThousands of vegetable, fruit and non-perishable food parcels were distributed via various non-governmental institutions and other networks. What a privilege it was to experience it first-hand. Our agricultural sector continues to be bearers of hope for our country. This makes it even more worthwhile to remain visionary and steadfast in our resolve to be of service to our farmers and to advance and protect their interests, come what may.”,”position”:0,”id”:”VqzKxI9bADyEzjzx”}]
